My father, Harold Schnitzer, founded what is known today as Schnitzer Properties in 1950. He and my mother, Arlene, were always side-by-side in our home office in downtown Portland and fostered our family-first company culture. We are honored to employ over 300 professionals across six Western states today, many of them working side-by-side with us for decades. Our employees are our partners and friends. To give you an idea about working here at Schnitzer Properties, below is part of a message sent to me from a colleague of ours who retired recently after 24 years with Schnitzer Properties. “Always remembering what you always told all of us.... Family First. I knew I had landed in the right spot at the right time; especially with my middle daughter getting her first kidney transplant around the same time and you being so supportive of her. Someone said, ‘The life given to us by nature is short, but the memory of a life well spent is eternal.’ As I enter the next phase of my life, I feel the last 24 years have been very well spent and I want to say how much I appreciate all you did for my family and me.”
